Health Remedies To Boost Immunity

COVID, Pollution, Dengue, Typhoid, Chikungunya – these are terms which are on the tip of everyone’s tongue these days. Our bodies function 24/7 to protect us but if our Immune system is impaired we can be susceptible to these and a lot more.

Immunity actually means ‘the state of being Immune from or insusceptible to a particular disease – the condition that permits either natural or acquired resistance to disease’.

There are both dietary and non-dietary remedies to boost our Immune system, and I think we all need to follow some or all of these to keep us as protected as we can from the dangers of all these viruses and like that are going around.

𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 :

𝟏- Sleep : Sleep is our Immune systems biggest rejuvenator. So try and sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours daily. Sleep deprivation causes our immune system to weaken. Our bodies only repair in a state of rest.

𝟐-Stress : Stress overload increases the hormone, cortisol, prolonged elevation of which suppresses the Immune function.

𝟑-Sunshine : Sunlight triggers the skins production of Vitamin D. Low vitamin D levels co-relate with a greater rise of not just respiratory infections but other infections and diseases as well. So please sit in the sun (without sunscreen) for 10 to 15 minutes daily.

𝟒-Positivity : Remove negative thoughts from your mind and focus on gratitude. Thank your body for being the ‘Well Oiled Machine’ that it is. Thank your Immune system which defends you from disease-causing microbes.

𝟓-Jalneti, Gargling and taking Steam regularly also helps in keeping the Immune system at its optimum level.

𝟔-Tobacco Smoke : Stay away from tobacco smoke as it raises the risk of Bronchitis, Pneumonia and other associated infections.

𝟕-Exercise : Make sure you get some daily exercise to keep your immune system strong.

𝟖-Yoga : Deep breathing and Yoga, Meditation and Music can help us relax and boost our Immune system.

𝟗-Include a variety of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in your diet : Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Spinach and other Leafy greens are beneficial. Brightly coloured vegetables contain Carotenoid such as beta carotene  which aid in strengthening immunity. Mushrooms (shitake and oyster) are a potent fungi for boosting immunity.
